Whether running a group of Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, or even Explorers, this is only a small part of the amazing team we have at 6th Gosport, and we are so glad you would like to get more information/jump on board. Whether that is with the direct support of the young people, managing the adult volunteers or finances, recruitment, maintenance, or fundraising etc. Everyone matters.
Over 120 Children are supported by a team of dedicated volunteers at 6th Gosport. But always on a drive to help serve more children in and around Gosport we are always looking for more.

Outline: To work in partnership with the Group Executive Committee to:
Externally: create promotional positive media coverage in print, online and broadcast which helps create a modern perception of 6th Gosport Scouting and understanding that we provide Skills for Life.
Internally: manage and create a number of channels to keep adult and youth members informed and engaged about opportunities, ideas and the Groups work.
Responsible for: No direct reports
Co-ordinate media across the group and all sections, in liaison with Group and Section Leaders.
Responsible to: Group Chairman

Appointment Requirements: To understand and accept The Scout Association’s policies. Module 1, Essential Information and GDPR training must be completed within 5 months.

Any person appointed to this role should be a team player, who gets satisfactions from seeing a job well done, they will have an eye for detail and should have a ‘roll your sleeves up’ attitude to get involved with ensuring delivery if things get tight.
They will have a sense of humour and be an ambassador for Scouting who can represent the Group if needed in media coverage and interviews.

An exciting opportunity has opened up and the group is looking to expand with a second Scout troop. Due to this we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic adult to join the team and help deliver #skillsforlife to the young people of Gosport.
You will be supported by a vast team of experienced assistants and a solid and helpful management team, meaning you wouldn’t be alone at point.

Outline: Manage and lead the operation of the Section. In particular, the planning and delivery of the Balanced Programme, with the help of Assistant Section Leaders, Section Assistants, Young Leaders and members of Scout Active Support as appropriate. Some of the tasks for which the Section Leader is responsible may be delegated to others in the Section, including other Section Leaders, Assistant Section Leaders and Section Assistants.

Responsible for: Young Leaders whilst they are working in the Section
Main Contacts: Young people, parents/carers, Assistant Leaders, Section Assistants, other Section Leaders within the Group, Group Scout Leader, Assistant District and County/Area Commissioners (Section), Explorer Scout Leader (Young Leaders), Young Leaders, Group Executive Committee members, sponsors of the Group.
Appointment requirements: Must successfully complete the appointment process (including acceptable personal enquiries and acceptance of The Scout Association’s policies). During the five months of Provisional Appointment the relevant Getting Started modules must be completed. A Wood Badge must be completed within three years of Full Appointment, and ongoing safeguarding and safety training.
It’s expected that whilst volunteering for this role you will undertake regulated activity.
Delivery of a Balanced Programme:

Appointment requirements: Must successfully complete the appointment process (including acceptable personal enquiries and acceptance of The Scout Association’s policies). Complete Getting Started training requirements within 5 months of full appointment.
It’s expected that whilst volunteering for this role you will undertake regulated activity.
Delivery of a Balanced Programme:

Occasional Helpers (OH) are adult volunteers who support and assist the Section Leaders, Assistant Section Leaders and Section Assistants in delivering the programme to young people in Scouting. They are required to complete a Disclosure Check (DBS) but it is not a formal appointment; they generally do not help more than once a month. If you attend a Parent and Child Camp or FamJam we have to register you as an OH
